The Dream:
This customer reached out to Timberline Patio Covers with the vision of extending their existing patio cover to create a more functional outdoor living space. Their current cover provided just enough room for an outdoor table but was otherwise too small. They wanted to transform the area into a year-round space with ample room for entertaining or enjoying a relaxing evening watching their favorite show.
The Build:
As we began this project and laid out the plans, we quickly noticed that the current deck's support posts were not up to code and needed reinforcement to support the size of the updated patio cover. We promptly upgraded the deck to a rock-solid foundation and installed Timbertech decking to withstand the ever-changing NW weather.
We removed the old patio cover and designed a gable-style roof patio cover that included coverage for their sliding glass door and living room window. Additionally, we extended the roof to the edge of the deck, quadrupling the square footage of their outdoor living space. We connected all the structural beams with Simpson Ties, which look amazing when paired with natural wood beams.
After completing the framing and roof, we started on the framing for the outdoor kitchen and fireplace. Our friends at Rock Electric did an excellent job supplying all the power needed to add all the accessories.
The Result:
The completion of this project in Ravensdale, WA, completely transformed the outdoor living space. Adding Velux skylights to let in natural light and Lithonia recessed lights created versatile lighting options to set the perfect mood for the homeowners.
To address the wide range of outdoor temperatures in the Pacific Northwest, we installed a stunning outdoor fan from Big Ass Fans and Bromic heaters for chilly nights. Paired with the outdoor fireplace, which features a Douglas fir mantle, Eldorado stone, and a television, this space became exceptionally comfortable.
The outdoor kitchen is not only highly functional but also beautiful. The countertops, made from Dekton Danae, wrap around a premium grill from Hestan Aspire. In addition to the grill, Hestan Aspire also provided the undercounter refrigerator, power burner, and trash and recycle bins.
We completed this project by ensuring it matched the rest of the house with complementary paint colors and trim accents.
